Order approving comm'n process
Case Information
The Washington State Redistricting Commission adopted congressional and legislative redistricting plans, but did not complete the formalities of transmitting the plans until several minutes after the Nov. 15, 2021, state constitutional deadline. On Nov. 16, 2021, the Commission informed the Washington Supreme Court that it had missed the deadline, and ceded control of the redistricting process to the court.
On Dec. 3, 2021, the Washington Supreme Court determined that the Commission had substantially complied with the state deadlines and allowed it to proceed with submitting the final plans to the state legislature.
