A federal court challenge to the congressional plan as violating section 2 of the Voting Rights Act and effectuating intentional racial discrimination.

On Oct. 12, 2023, the trial court dismissed the case; on Apr. 9, 2024, the Sixth Circuit reversed that decision on appeal, and ordered the constitution of a 3-judge court to hear the claims.

On July 1, 2024, the 3-judge trial court again dismissed the case, finding that the plaintiffs had not alleged that they could constitute a majority in a reasonably sized district (and therefore could not succeed under the VRA), and that they had not alleged sufficient facts to establish intentional racial discrimination.
