Order denying prelim. injunction
Case Information
A federal challenge to the new congressional map ratified by Proposition 50, alleging the unconstitutional predominant and unjustified use of race.
On Jan. 14, 2026, the court denied a preliminary injunction, finding that the plaintiffs failed to prove that race predominated in drawing the district lines. That decision has been appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court; on Feb. 4, 2026, the Supreme Court declined to enjoin the map pending the appeal.
