Case Information

A federal challenge to the new congressional map ratified by Proposition 50, alleging the unconstitutional predominant and unjustified use of race.

On Jan. 14, 2026, the court denied a preliminary injunction, finding that the plaintiffs failed to prove that race predominated in drawing the district lines.  On Feb. 4, 2026, the Supreme Court declined to enjoin the map pending the appeal, and the appeal was then dismissed — the case is now proceeding to trial.
