Case Information

A state court challenge to Congressional District 11, based on alleged racial vote dilution of what could have been an influence district.

On Jan. 21, 2026, the court struck the congressional district as racially dilutive under the state constitution, and ordered the state’s redistricting commission to redraw lines.  Intervening congressional representatives have appealed and sought a stay from the state supreme court and the U.S. Supreme Court; on Feb. 19, 2026, to the extent that the case had been automatically stayed while on appeal, the state appellate court vacated that automatic stay.
