Case Information

On Dec. 17, 2021, voters filed a lawsuit challenging Pennsylvania’s congressional district plan and asked the court to declare it unconstitutional, enjoin respondents from using the current plan in future elections, and adopt a new plan that adheres to the “one person, one vote” principle.

The case was consolidated with Gressman v. DeGraffenreid on Dec. 20, 2021.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court assumed jurisdiction on Feb. 2, 2022, due to election calendar concerns, and on Feb. 23, 2022, the state Supreme Court adopted the plaintiffs’ redistricting plan.
