In re Decennial Redistricting
When the state redistricting commission and state legislature failed to meet their deadlines for enacting new congressional and state legislative districts, under state law, the Virginia Supreme Court assumed responsibility for redistricting.
On Nov. 19, 2021, the state Supreme Court appointed Sean P. Trende and Bernard N. Grofman as Special Masters to assist with the process.
On Dec. 28, 2021, the state Supreme Court adopted the Special Masters’ proposed plans.
