A state court challenge to the state House map, alleging violations of protections for county lines under state law.

On Dec. 22, 2021, the court denied MALC’s request for a TRO, but also refused to dismiss claims for declaratory relief by either MALC or a consolidated set of plaintiffs from Gutierrez v. Texas.  On appeal, on June 24, 2022, the state Supreme Court dismissed MALC’s claims on standing grounds, and dismissed the Gutierrez claims based on the timing of the redistricting, but allowed the Gutierrez claims on alleged county-line violations to proceed in trial court.  It does not appear that the Gutierrez plaintiffs have since pressed their case in trial court.
