Case Information

A state court challenge to the 2016 congressional plan as an alleged partisan gerrymander impermissible under the state constitution.

On Oct. 28, 2019, the trial court preliminarily enjoined use of the plan for the 2020 elections.  The legislature drew a remedial congressional plan (H 1029) on Nov. 15, 2019, which the court allowed to govern the 2020 elections.

On Nov. 5, 2021, in response to the 2021 congressional map, plaintiffs filed a supplemental complaint again asserting an unlawful partisan gerrymander.  That claim was voluntarily dismissed on Dec. 1, 2021, as a continuation of this case — but the substantive challenge was taken up by the same plaintiffs in Harper v. Hall.
