Hunter v. Bostelmann

Last Updated May 5, 2022
Case No. 3:21-cv-00512 (W.D. Wis.); No. 21-474 (U.S. S. Ct.)
Cycle 2020

Case Information

A federal court challenge to the congressional and state legislative maps, based on the anticipated failure of the legislature to draw valid lines, and anticipated subsequent malapportionment.

On Oct. 6, 2021, the three-judge court issued a limited stay to allow litigation in state court to play out.

After the state Supreme Court on Mar. 3, 2022, adopted new congressional maps in Johnson v. Wis. Election Comm’n, and (following remand from the U.S. Supreme Court) adopted new state legislative maps on Apr. 15, 2022, plaintiffs sought voluntary dismissal of the claims in this case.  The three-judge court dismissed all claims on May 5, 2022.
