The U.S. Supreme Court denied cert from Kansas voters who appealed a ruling from the state Supreme Court arguing that the state Court used the wrong standard to uphold congressional maps.

The newly formed GOP majority Supreme Court listened to oral arguments in rare rehearing of redistricting case.
Feb 11, 2023
The Districting and Apportionment Commission voted 3-2 to finalize new House and Senate maps. Nonpartisan chair Maylinn Smith cast the tie-breaking vote in favor of the map.

The state Supreme Court agreed to rehear a case decided in February 2022, which declared the state's districts to be a partisan gerrymander.    
Feb 1, 2023
State legislators filed an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court over a lower court order that the state redraw its congressional districts.
Jan 25, 2023
Plaintiffs have sued Governor Hochul about redistricting in state court. The court affirmed a lower court order to the Independent Redistricting Commission to submit new maps by April 28, 2023.
