Case Information

Federal court challenge to Alabama’s state legislative plan as an unconstitutional racial gerrymander. Plaintiffs allege that the state Legislature “employ[ed] race as a primary tool in determining district lines” in violation of the Fourteenth Amendment.

Defendant’s moved to dismiss on Mar. 11, 2022. The Court stayed the action on Mar. 21, 2022 pending the outcome of the Supreme Courts review of Milligan v. Merrill and Caster v. Merrill.
